Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: As a rule of thumb, plant bulbs 3 to 6 times their diameter. Be sure to check the package, or information at the display when you buy loose bulbs, for the right depth for specific bulbs. Deeper is generally better in areas where the temperature in winter gets really low, or where the soil is light and likely to dry out in summer. Don't go too deep or you won't get any flowers. It's best to plant bulbs with the "nose", or growing end, pointing up. If you can't tell which and that is, plant it on it's side, and it will still grow towards the surface.
