Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: When saving seeds, ferment tomato and cucumber seeds to remove their slimy coating and kill fungal spores. Squeeze seeds and juice from several fruits into a plastic carton and leave at room temperature with the lid ajar for 4 days, until mold develops. Then rinse the seeds clean in a sieve, drain, and spread on a plate to dry.
