Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: Ground layering is the easiest way to propagate hydrangeas. Just take a branch from the main plant, bend it over, and bury it in the ground. Before you bury the branch, cut a notch in it or scrape a little bark off the underside. Make sure at least one leaf node will be underground. Use a brick or rock to hold the branch in place and retain moisture. When the branch forms it's own roots, cut it loose and pot it like a cutting.
