Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: In the woods, you may notice some ferns look like they're covered with little brown bugs. These are actually fern spores, and you can propagate ferns from them. Shake a frond over a white paper towel to collect the spores. Sterilize some potting soil in the oven for a couple of hours, then sprinkled the spores on the damp soil. Cover with clear plastic. The soil should turn green in a few weeks. Within months, you'll have little fronds you can pot up individually.
