Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: Love fresh spinach? Spinach shoots up in early spring, but the summer heat quickly causes it to go to seed. To enjoy fresh greens from your garden all summer long, try Malabar Spinach (Basella alba). Not a true spinach, this vine is native to India. It LOVES the sun and tastes surprisingly like spinach. To harvest it, pinch off the tender leaves, and let the older, tougher ones nourish the plant. A wonderful alternative!
