Helpful Tip from the Garden Geeks: Retain moisture by double potting. Unglazed terra-cotta makes an ideal container for plants since it breathes, but it also loses water faster through evaporation. To keep you from watering everyday, set your medium sized potted plant in a larger decorative, plastic or ceramic container. Fill the space between the two containers with sphagnum moss and pour water into the outer pot. The clay will absorb enough water to keep the soil damp, but it wont lose any to the outdoors.
