Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Weeds tell us a lot about our soil. Does chicory grow in your garden without encouragement? How about buttercups, sorrel, or thistles? If so, your garden is probably mostly clay. Yards with a lot of natural hawkweed are dry, and those with cattails are wet and boggy. Ground ivy hints that your yard is moist, but well drained soil, and clover says you have poor, compacted soil. Learn from your weeds!!
