Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Here is a little cut flower trick a friend taught me. When cutting black eyed susans or daisies, use this trick to avoid their very common droop. Fill a vase with water (the ideal temp is 105º) Cut a piece of cardboard that is big enough to balance on top of your vase and cut small homes in it that the flower stems can fit through allowing them to dangle in the water. Then keep the flowers in a dark, cool place for several hours. While being kept in the dark, they adapt to their new home and stand straight up.
