Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Tricks for TULIPS!
*Purchase only firm and fat bulbs, don't worry if the papery outer layer is tattered.
*Remember that hybrid tulips look great and offer the widest range of colors and forms, but they often fail to bloom reliably after the first year.
*Species tulips are smaller and hardier, but they will naturalize and bloom for years if the location is right.
*If it's too hot in your area, try the species that don't need to be chilled like Tulipa sylvestris, Tulip bakeri 'Lilac Wonder', 'Blue Parrot', 'White Triumphator' or 'Sweet Harmony'.
