Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Moles!! Did you know they have to eat all of the time, but are usually after cutworms, grubs and slugs-not roots and bulbs. The first tip is to try to get rid of any slugs or grubs. If you get rid of their food, they will go packing. Another little trick is to use castor oil! In a blender, mix 3 ounces of castor oil and 3 tablespoons of liquid dishwashing detergent until you get a frothy mixture. Add 8 tablespoons of water and blend until frothy again. Put a cup of the potion into a 15 gallon hose end sprayer. Fill the rest with water and spray the mixture on your lawn and garden, thoroughly soaking the soil. Another method is to flood the moles tunnels with castor oil and water. There is something about the oily mix that sends them packing. Remember though-if you have plenty of their food around, they will be back!
