Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Did you know you may have a killer tree in your back yard? Black Walnut trees are loved for their wood, but they also produce a substance called juglone that is harmful to many plants. These trees are especially a problem for plants that love acid, like azalea, rhododendrons, and blueberries. Also, be sure to put your vegetable garden with tomatoes and potatoes far out of this trees zone - that means at least 50 to 60 feet from the trunk.
