Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks: Did you know there is a great way to conserve water and save time while watering your trees? To conserve water and give your tree a good, long soak (sounds like an oxymoron huh?), set several of clean gallon milk jugs with small holes punched in the bottoms, around the drip line of the tree (a ring around the tree canopy on the ground level that receives most of the rainwater shed from the tree canopy). Fill these with water and let it seep slowly into the ground where water hungry roots can drink it up before it returns to the water table.
