Helpful tip from The Garden Geeks:
Did you know you can grow a really cool house plant from a carrot? Grab the largest carrot from your fridge and cut off the top 2" leaving the leaves intact. Then hollow it out. Run a needle and thread through the carrot wall with leaf side down to create a hanging basket and hang in good light. Fill the hollowed area with water and soon fern like leaves will grow upward as long as you keep watering it. The foliage will completely cover the carrot. You can do this with beets, turnips or parsnips as well. Great for kids!
