Notes for Identification: Calathea picturata is a clump forming perennial with you elliptic leaf blades, 8 to 10 inches long, on leaf stalks 8 inches long. Leaves are deep olive green above, marked with a wide silver line along each side of the midribs, and with a narrower, jagged silver line near the margins; the undersides are purple. Care: when grown indoors, role in soilless or soil-based potting mix in bright indirect or filtered light, with high humidity, draft free conditions, and a constant temperature. When in growth, water freely and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly; water moderately in winter. Pot on annually in late spring.
